Usually, in Ubuntu all the setup files come with *.deb extension. There is a very easy command that one can use to install the program with *.deb extension.
Let's say our downloaded program is rstudio and the name of file is "rstudio-0.97.332-amd64.deb", then the command line used in terminal is :
sudo gdebi rstudio-0.97.332-amd64.deb
