The easy way to fix this problem is
sudo mv /bin/sh /bin/sh.bkp
sudo ln -s /bin/bash /bin/sh
In Ubuntu while running or installing something sometimes the user may encounter the problem "Syntax error: bad fd number".

In Visual Basic program coding, you may encounter a point where you want to refer the variable from another form within a program.
It is very simple. We just need to write the code as follows: If you need to import the value of n from form 1 then in form 2 you need to write:Labelvalueofn.Text = Form1.n This will apply to all the variables and arrays. If you have any questions please leave comments. I often come to the situation where I have like 100's of csv files and I need to compile these data into one. Suppose I have ADCP data and I need to compile all the ADCP data into one. The easier way I found so far is by using old DOS program.
Windows start button|Run cmd (win2k or winXP) command (win98) copy d:\myfiles\*.csv c:\all.csv exit to get back to excel and open c:\all.csv (Modify d:\myfiles to match your CD drive letter and path.) The above command works perfect and after you import all the data into excel you can use some code to modify the layout of the data. If you are planning to run your code on supercomputer or any linux devices, then you should need to compile your code in the Linux interface. The windows executable file "*.exe" doesn't run on linux.
Compiling program in Fortran (Error in Opening the compiled module file. Check Include Paths)5/8/2012 While compiling fortran program we need to keep in mind various things. FORTRAN 90 has dynamic memory allocation function. If in a program there is a subroutine and there is a module in the subroutine, then at first we need to compile the subroutine with module. If we don't compile the subroutine with module , then when we try to compile the main program, then it gives error such as "error in opening the compiled module file. Check Include paths". I have been stuck on this error for last 5-6 days. Finally, I found the solution and the solution is to first compile the subroutine with include path.
Hope it helps to others also. While working on coastal areas, everyone gets encountered with the the datum issues. You may have data with reference to one datum while you require to transform data to other datum. So, some of the handy tools for the tidal datum transformation are as follows:
IF you are interested in the theory behind the tide prediction then read this article. http://www.laseagrant.org/pdfs/NOAA_DataComputations.pdf I have just arrived my office. Ready to continue from where I left yesterday. Yesterday, I was working on the flow exchange calculation in the estuary. It was a lot of calculation. My major concern is the bathymetry near the Perdido pass is little bit different from the survey made in 1994. Well I was able to calculate other parameters required to quantify the flow exchange in the estuary though. Hopefully this will lead to my second paper.
Sometime ago I had a difficulty finding the bathymetry data to use for the EFDC model. Finally, I was able to find out anyway but today when I try to recall the process, I totally forgot how I got the bathymetry data. Yesterday, I was surfing net in the NOAA website and all of a sudden I found a website where I could download the bathymetry data. I wish I had known about this website long time back. Its never too late though. The link to the website where we can download the bathymetry data is http://maps.ngdc.noaa.gov/viewers/nos_hydro/ . This is interactive map showing the waterbody locations in the map. Some data are linked way back to 1800's but if you are trying to use for the most recent studies, I recommend to find the most updated bathymetric survey. Cheers !
